Garrett Fleming, a 2017 graduate of Tallmadge High School and Criminal Justice completer, was recently hired as a full-time law enforcement officer with the Brimfield Township Police Department and is currently assigned to day shift patrol.  After participating in the inaugural Criminal Justice class, Garrett attended The University of Akron, where he was the first student in university history to attend the Summit County Sheriff’s Office Police Academy as part of his college coursework.

In 2020, Garrett graduated with his Bachelor’s Degree in Emergency Management and Homeland Security with a minor in Criminal Justice, was certified as a Police Officer in the State of Ohio and was sworn in as a police officer with the Village of Lakemore.  During his two years at the department, Garrett obtained multiple certifications and was responsible for writing multiple grants for the department. Garrett shares, “the Criminal Justice program helped to reinforce my interest in law enforcement, accelerate my college coursework, and has been one of the biggest points of discussion in all of the job interviews I’ve had. My time in the program definitely helped to get me where I am today.”
